Within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center and KANANI NGO, a two-day interactive course entitled “Positive Parenting” was held in Vanadzor on January 29-30, 2025, which was aimed at bringing together parents to discuss different parenting approaches and strategies.
The speaker was the Deputy Director of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center Haykuhi Adamyan.
The key topics of the Course were related to the following areas:
- ✦ Understanding the importance of self-care;
- ✦ Managing emotions;
- ✦ Communication and listening culture;
- ✦ Coexistence and recognition of the emotional needs of the child;
- ✦ Setting boundaries and the ability to say “no”;
- ✦ Conflict management;
- ✦ Positive parenting tools.
The participants of the Course gained various important knowledge aimed at developing positive parenting skills. In particular, they received information on how to take care of their emotional and physical well-being, recognize and control their own emotions, demonstrate a more patient and balanced approach, as well as help children understand and express their feelings.
The practical exercises were aimed at developing skills for building healthy relationships with children. The participants of the Course were introduced to positive parenting methods that help peacefully resolve disagreements with children. The participants discovered methods that help encourage the child to be independent and responsible, learned how to look at situations from the child’s perspective and support them in difficult times, creating an environment of trust and support.
According to the participants, the Course was useful and effective. It was held in a warm, lively, and inspiring atmosphere, promoting the active involvement of parents and identifying problems in an atmosphere of honest questions and answers, with the logic of finding effective solutions to them, as well as reviewing one’s approaches towards children, which will certainly help in the development of parenting skills that are warm, positive, and based on trust.
