On May 31, 2025, a teachers’ conference entitled “Innovative Teacher – Powerful State” was held at Yerevan State University, which was aimed at highlighting the reform processes being implemented in the field of general education, discussing existing and emerging challenges in the field, and the mechanisms of overcoming them.
The aim of the Conference is to disseminate the best practices in introducing the state standard of general education, to unite the intellectual potential of teaching in the same process, and to share innovations in the field.
Teachers and principals from various schools across the Republic, RPPC and TPPSC specialists, responsible officials in the field of education, as well as representatives of international agencies and interested non-governmental organizations participated in the Conference.
RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Head of Cooperation Section at EU Delegation to Armenia Frank Hess, and UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Armenia Christine Weigand delivered welcome speeches.
In her speech, Zh. Andreasyan emphasized the importance of discussions on the necessary changes in the field of education, the role of teachers in them, and their willingness to do so. The Minister touched upon the impact of various factors on the field of education, such as technological and social advancements, the challenges they pose, and the need to develop effective response mechanisms to address the challenges. She attached importance to school protection and security issues in all contexts, considering the need for both teachers and students to be protected.
An award ceremony for mentor schools of the RA MoESCS took place during the Conference, after which the Conference was held in the format of a plenary session. Deputy Minister of the RA Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araksia Svajyan, and Acting Director of the “National Center for Education Development and Innovation” Foundation Artashes Torosyan presented the activities being implemented in the field, current problems, and visions they have for their solution.
The session was followed by a panel discussion on “The Impact of Educational Reforms on the Development of Teachers’ Innovative Capabilities” topic.
Afterwards, the activities continued in separate sections, the topics of which were related to the most current issues in the field of education. The topics were:
- ✦ Innovative Teaching Methods;
- ✦ The Use of Digital Tools and Artificial Intelligence in the Teaching Process;
- ✦ The Introduction of Game Methods in the Teaching Process;
- ✦ Interdisciplinary Connections: Innovative Approaches in the Teaching Process;
- ✦ Social Emotional Development in the Learning Process;
- ✦ The Use of New Assessment Approaches in the Teaching Process;
- ✦ The Development of Creative and Critical Thinking in the Teaching Process.
RPPC Deputy Director Haykuhi Adamyan also delivered a report entitled “ONE CLASSROOM, MANY COLOURS: EDUCATION IN CONDITIONS OF DIVERSITY.”
The Report concentrated on modeling new, interactive educational approaches in conditions of diversity and identifying the features of their application in the educational process. The practical part of the Report included innovative ideas and situational exercises that help promote inclusion.
The participants were enthusiastic: each felt like a small but significant part of the proposed “reality.”
