One of the important systemic amendments being implemented in the education sector is the introduction of a mandatory psychologist position in general educational institutions. The amendment is aimed at ensuring the psychological health of children, promoting their personal development skills, as well as supporting teachers and parents in overcoming challenges related to education and upbringing.

In order to clarify the functions and official responsibilities of a school psychologist, the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center has developed the manual entitled “DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE OFFICIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS OF A PSYCHOLOGIST OF A GENERAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION”, which was recommended for use as an educational material by Order N 667-A/2 of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia dated March 12, 2025.
The Manual presents in detail the main directions and content of the work of a psychologist in a general educational institution, according to
- ✦ the purpose of the activity,
- ✦ the specifics of working with different stakeholders,
- ✦ the different roles performed by the psychologist,
- ✦ the forms of planning and organizing work,
The ethical and moral principles and norms of the work carried out by the psychologist, as well as the requirements for the psychologist’s workroom, are established.
