The Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center continues its activities aimed at raising awareness among the parent community of preschool and general educational institutions.
From January to April 2025, training courses on “How to Stimulate the Development of a Child’s Speech” were held in Yerevan Nursery and Kindergarten № 83, Goris Preschool Educational Institution № 2, and Pemzashen Preschool Educational Institution in Artik Community. The trainer was Kristine Sahakyan, a Speech Therapist at RPPC Department of Pedagogical-Psychological Assistance. About 91 parents participated in the training courses.
The aim of the training course was to provide parents with skills and resources that will help overcome the difficulties that arise in the child’s speech development and the educational processes.
Discussions on the effective methods and approaches that support the child’s speech development were held with the parent community. Parents often do not fully understand what preventive measures should be implemented, and what kind of speech environment is necessary to ensure the natural course of a child’s speech development. Among the main current recommendations are to limit the child’s screen viewing (television, phone, computer) and instead encourage direct communication and active games, read texts of any type (fairy tales, poems) to the child from an early age, then gradually increase the volume of the texts and expect that the child will begin to retell what he has heard. In order to identify and prevent speech disorders early, it is recommended to contact a relevant specialist.
