AWARE PARENTS BUILD STRONG AND SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITIES
Within the framework of the training courses on “Guarantees of a Child’s Effective Education and Social Inclusion,” an online course for parents on the topic “I LISTEN, I UNDERSTAND, I SUPPORT: HOW TO RECOGNIZE CHILD’S NEEDS” was held on April 29, 2025.
The trainer of the Course was Alina Manukyan, a specialist at RPPC Department of Content Development, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor. The Course was aimed at increasing the effectiveness and social inclusion of students with special educational needs, as well as at creating a supportive and inclusive environment.
The trainer talked about approaches that will help parents deeply understand the children’s silent messages, recognize their socio-psychological issues and needs, and give a relevant response. She attached importance to the recognition and understanding of the children’s socio-psychological needs, as well as to providing proper and timely support to ensure their mental development.
The Course was accompanied by an interactive Q&A session and discussions. The participants shared their observations, perspectives, and positive parenting experiences.
During the discussion, attention was drawn to the fact that parents mostly focus on meeting the children’s physical needs, often even overprotectively limiting the children’s development and acquisition of socialization skills. However, socio-psychological needs are also vital in children’s lives. In this context, the speaker particularly emphasized the satisfaction of needs that will contribute to the creation of a favourable environment for inclusion: security, love, respect, understanding and compassion, and appreciation.
The Training Course, dedicated to the ways and conditions of meeting the need for security, concluded with positive messages and the expectation of a new training course.
During the upcoming training courses, it is envisaged to address other socio-psychological needs, which are also of vital children.
