Since April 2025, the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, in cooperation with UNICEF and with the support of the Government of Japan, has been implementing the “Pilot Program for the Introduction of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)” in educational institutions.
The Program aims to respond to the growing emotional and social needs of children and support teachers and specialists.
Within the framework of the Program, MHPSS strategic documents have been developed at the initiative of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the testing of which has begun in 8 general educational and 8 preschool educational institutions in Lori, Kotayk, and Shirak Marzes, as well as in Yerevan.
The Pilot Program provides an opportunity to test the MHPSS operational guideline in practice, serving as a basis for large-scale implementation and reforms in the sector.
Within the framework of the Program, in June 2025, informative meetings were organized at RPPC with the participation of directors of general educational and preschool educational institutions and psychologists. The goals, activities and expected results of the Program were presented, and the toolkit and possible challenges were also discussed.
The participants highly appreciated the initiative and came up with useful suggestions.
