At the initiative of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, on October 4, 2025, a teachers’ conference entitled “SAFE AND SECURE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT” was held at Yerevan State University.
The aim of the Conference was to disseminate the advanced experience of implementing the state standard of general education, unite the intellectual potential of teaching work in the work of implementing the state standard of general education, record the process of reforms being carried out in the field, and contribute to ensuring a safe and secure, as well as bullying-free educational environment.
More than 700 professionals, including teachers and directors from various schools across the Country, RPPC and TPPSC specialists, responsible officials in the education sector, representatives of international organizations, and interested non-governmental organizations, were present at the Conference.
The participants of the Conference were welcomed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan, the Rector of Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the Representative of the International Cooperation Department of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Armenia David Avagyan, and the UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Armenia Christine Weigand.
In her speech, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zh. Andreasyan spoke in detail about the reforms being implemented in the education sector and the role of teachers in them, attaching importance to all processes aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of the teaching profession and improving working conditions.
Afterwards, the Conference continued in the format of a plenary session. Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araksia Svajyan addressed the operational and security issues of the current academic year within the framework of the topic “Ensuring a Safe Educational Environment in the Context of Educational Reforms.” Mrs. Svajyan spoke about the activities aimed at improving the security of school infrastructure, environmental adaptations, the implementation of psychological services in schools and other educational processes, considering them from the perspective of security management. In that context, A. Svajyan also touched upon the activities of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, in particular, programs and guidelines focused on bullying and violence. The organization of project work on the topic of security issues at school was also emphasized so as to identify the issues from the students’ perspective and make the school a place where students attend with pleasure and love.
The Session was followed by a panel discussion on “How to Build a Culture of Trust, Inclusion, and Safety at School,” during which speakers emphasized the importance of close cooperation between educational institutions and RPPC, the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal, as well as the parent community, in order to achieve effective solutions in conditions of mutual trust and cooperation.
The Conference proceeded with separate sections, the topics of which stemmed from the advanced experience of the new standards and were aimed at discussing the psychological and value systems, as well as technological challenges and opportunities needed for creating a safe and secure educational environment.
RPPC specialists also delivered reports at the Conference.
RPPC Deputy Director Haykuhi Adamyan delivered a training report on the “DIVERSE CLASSROOM: SIMPLE STEPS, EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS” topic, which was aimed at developing the logic of finding simple and effective solutions to conflicts within diversity, modeling new, interactive educational approaches, and revealing the peculiarities of their application in the educational process.
Head of RPPC Department of Assessment Liana Margaryan presented a report on “SOCIAL MEDIA AND ONLINE VIOLENCE: THE ROLE OF EDUCATION IN PREVENTION,” viewing the prevention of violence in the online environment as one of the primary issues of education and emphasizing the role of schools in the process of forming conscious and safe digital behaviour.
Trainer-Methodologist at the RPPC Department of Training and Methodological Support, PhD in Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Ani Avagyan touched upon the functions of the school psychologist and the work to be carried out by them within the framework of the topic “SAFE AND SECURE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT: THE ROLE OF THE PSYCHOLOGIST IN THE FORMATION OF A VALUE SYSTEM.”
Psychologist at RPPC Department of Pedagogical-Psychological Support Armine Avagyan delivered a report on “BULLYING PREVENTION: TEACHER’S ROLE AND RESPONSE STEPS” topic, emphasizing the role of the teacher in bullying prevention.
RPPC Mentors Volodya Grigoryan and Aida Khalatyan, who presented reports on “FORMATION OF STUDENTS’ INDEPENDENCE THROUGH LEARNING-CENTERED TEACHING” and “TEACHING METHODS AND THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION: MODERN SOLUTIONS FOR TEACHERS” topic, shared their experience in working with students, conveying to the participants their vision of learner-centered methods and ensuring quality education.
A solemn award ceremony was also held within the framework of the Conference, during which a number of representatives of the field of education were awarded with medals of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and the winners of the “Best of the Year-2024” competition received certificates of appreciation.
Our colleagues were also awarded with certificates: RPPC Mentor, Teacher at Spandaryan Secondary School Hayarpi Khachatryan received a certificate of appreciation in the “Best Teacher of a Secondary Educational Institution” nomination, and Special Educator at Vanadzor TPPSC Marine Aghababyan – in the “Best TPPSC Special Educator” nomination. We warmly congratulate and wish them new achievements.
