In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, the “Astra” Foundation for Health Protection and Prevention of Violence, and the Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies at Yerevan State University, a workshop entitled “OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN IN ARMENIA” was held on November 24, 2025. The Ոorkshop was aimed at presenting and analyzing the results of the formative research conducted on this topic and the first online survey conducted in schools of the Republic of Armenia, identifying existing issues and challenges, developing appropriate mechanisms and strategies for their prevention and resolution.
The reports focused on:
- ✦ the results of the first online survey conducted in schools on the issue of sexual violence against children in Armenia;
- ✦ the procedure for conducting an online survey in the RA schools;
- ✦ the methodology and toolkit used in the formative research conducted on the issue of sexual violence against children in Armenia.
In her report, Director of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center Lilit Mnatsakanyan touched upon the procedure for conducting the first online survey on the issue of sexual violence against children in the RA schools. Mrs. Mnatsakanyan presented the purpose and objectives of the survey in detail, the methodology, the processes of assessing the consent of parents and children, data collection and processing, also attaching importance to the factors of children’s rights and safety. She spoke about the mechanisms for conducting the survey, the involvement of the participants, and the level of children’s readiness to participate in the survey, emphasizing the importance of protecting the best interests of the child in any case.
Throughout the Workshop, discussions were held in various formats, during which experts and various specialists expressed their observations and suggestions for the localization, development, and implementation of appropriate strategies, mechanisms, and toolkits.
The survey was conducted in 2025 among adolescent schoolchildren (12-17 years old) by the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center in cooperation with the “Astra” Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies at Yerevan State University.
