On November 26, 2025, a conference entitled “INCLUSION AS THE FOUNDATION OF A SAFE AND SECURE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT” was held through the joint initiative of Yerevan N3 Territorial Pedagogical-Psychological Support Center and the “Inclusion Armenia” NGO.
The message of the Conference was to introduce a culture of organizing scientific and educational events based on constructive cooperation, in connection with the declaration of the 2025-2026 academic year as the “Year of a Safe and Secure Educational Environment” by the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
Representatives of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, the RA Education Inspection Body, the RA Human Rights Defender, the Armenian State Pedagogical University, the RA Territorial Pedagogical-Psychological Support Centers, interested non-governmental organizations, leading specialists in the field of education, as well as teachers, parents and students attended the Conference.
The Conference launched with a panel discussion featuring responsible representatives from sectors that play a key role in ensuring a safe educational environment. In her speech, RPPC Director Lilit Mnatsakanyan emphasized inclusion as a factor in establishing a safe and secure educational environment, as well as touched upon the activities being carried out in this direction, attaching importance to the role of cooperation between educational institutions, TPPSCs, Governmental Structures operating in the field, and non-governmental organizations within that framework. Mrs. Mnatsakanyan also elaborated on the priority activities implemented in the education sector, highlighting in particular reasonable adaptations, accessibility of the physical environment, development of a monitoring toolkit, as well as processes aimed at introducing a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) system in preschool educational institutions and schools.
The main topics of the Conference were aimed at:
- ✦ the development and implementation of sectoral policy toolkit, applied solutions, and strategic approaches;
- ✦ the mechanisms for incorporating new and innovative technologies into them and the cooperation of various specialists in this process;
- ✦ the psychological impact of teachers on the mental processes of the students and the creation of equal opportunities for them, considering inclusion in all contexts as a key component of ensuring a safe educational environment.
RPPC specialists Anna Nersisyan, Syuzanna Petrosyan, Susanna Muradyan, Armine Avagyan, and Naira Mkhitaryan also delivered reports at the Conference.
Methodologist-Trainer at the Department of Training and Methodological Support Anna Nersisyan presented a report on the “EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES WITHOUT STEREOTYPES AND PREJUDICES” topic, examining the processes aimed at creating inclusive environments in the context of providing opportunities appropriate to the needs of each student and eliminating stereotypes.
In her report entitled “CREATING A SAFE AND SECURE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM”, Specialist at the Department of Content Development Syuzanna Petrosyan discussed in detail the toolkits and procedures necessary to create environments that meet the educational needs of children with autism.
Specialist at the Department of Content Development, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Susanna Muradyan presented the specifics of organizing classroom environments for students with visual impairments in her report on “ENSURING AN ACCESSIBLE AND SAFE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS.”
Psychologist at the Department of Pedagogical-Psychological Assistance Armine Avagyan presented a report on “THE TEACHER’S PSYCHOLOGICAL INFLUENCE ON THE PROCESS OF FORMING A HEALTHY SELF-ASSESSMENT OF STUDENTS,” highlighting tools for the teacher’s positive influence on the mental processes of students and ensuring an effective educational environment.
In her report on “RESILIENCE, SAFETY, AND A WELL-BEING CLASSROOM,” Psychologist at the Department of Assessment Narine Mkhitaryan touched upon the activities aimed at increasing students’ resilience and their importance in the context of creating a healthy classroom atmosphere.
The Conference concluded with several important highlights, emphasizing the role of coordinated efforts of all education stakeholders in ensuring a safe and secure environment.
