The Manual explores the role and functions of parenting from the perspective of social pedagogy. It presents the key components and styles of parenting, their manifestations and consequences, as well as the challenges that may arise in parent-child relationships and steps to overcome them. In the Manual, parenting is presented as a purposeful and planned process of the social education and development of an individual. The Manual addresses the specific features of children’s development, socialization, communication, and upbringing, as well as the conditions necessary for creating a favourable socio-psychological environment within the family. Special attention is attached to the areas of social pedagogical practice, its organizational forms and stages, potential risks, and mechanisms for managing them. The Manual also emphasizes the importance of raising parents’ awareness of the age-related, psychological, and social characteristics of 21st-century children, which contributes to improving the quality of parenting and strengthening parent-child relationships. The Manual also includes modelled situations illustrating socially and pedagogically appropriate parental responses, aimed at developing and improving parenting skills.
