In cooperation with the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center and Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan, a two-day international conference entitled “CHANGING EDUCATION: CHALLENGES OF UNIVERSAL INCLUSION” was held on October 30-31, 2024.
The aim of the Conference was to examine the issues and challenges of universal inclusion in the context of constantly changing education, find effective solutions and strategies to overcome them, and contribute to the cooperation among professionals from different countries.
The Conference was attended by about 30 speakers and representatives from various educational institutions in Armenia and abroad, as well as from state, international and non-governmental organizations operating in the field of education. RPPC Deputy Director Haykuhi Adamyan, Head of the Department of Pedagogical-Psychological Support Geghetsik Grigoryan, Specialist of the Department of Training and Methodological Support Lilit Karapetyan, Specialists of the Department of Content Development Alina Manukyan and Armine Mikayelyan also presented their reports and master classes.
The topics of the reports focused on key issues and challenges related to the organization of education and universal inclusion, in particular:
- ✦ positive aspects of accessible education and universal inclusion;
- ✦ principles of working with children with autism;
- ✦ the role of master classes in the context of inclusive education;
- ✦ peculiarities of pedagogical-psychological assessment;
- ✦ inclusion of all children, as well as cooperation between the school and specialists;
- ✦ presence of various psychological issues, their prevention, diagnosis, provision of appropriate support and adaptations;
- ✦ regulation of behavioral problems;
- ✦ development of professional orientation skills for children with developmental problems;
- ✦ school-specialist communication;
- ✦ mental state of people with mental health issues;
- ✦ Armenian model of methodology for assessing social skills and abilities;
- ✦ impact of school bullying on the mental health of the students;
- ✦ maintaining the psychological stability of people with disabilities;
- ✦ social interaction of children with ASD, behavioral manifestations, and other key issues as a result of chess training.
The Conference was enriched with artistic spirit by the students of “Chakhruk” ethno music group of Kharberd Specialized Children’s Home and the Special Educational Complex for Children with Hearing Disorders. Through art, they conveyed another model of understanding inclusivity and accepting diversity.
