Yerevan State College of Humanities is introducing the specialty “Armenian Sign Language Translation” with the qualification “Armenian Sign Language Interpreter” on an experimental basis from the 2026-2027 academic year.
The duration of the secondary vocational education program is 2 years based on secondary education. Admission will be open for the specified specialty with 25 allocated places.
According to the observation of the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Araksia Svajyan, the demand for sign language interpreters is quite high in Armenia, in addition, there is a long-term goal within the framework of universal inclusive education: for children with special educational needs to study in schools in their community. This approach will not only contribute to the accessibility and strengthening of inclusion of education, but will also significantly increase the demand for relevant specialists, including sign language interpreters.
