According to the amendments made on February 9, 2022, in the RA Law on Public Education, a child with exceptional abilities is also considered a person with SEN.
The assessment of SEN of students with exceptional abilities is a gradual and complex process, towards the implementation of which the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center carries out targeted works, including developing appropriate toolkit procedures.
So, in addition to the toolkits, professional training also plays an important role, because, in this process, the specialist’s competence is considered primary. The generation of knowledge of psychologists, and teachers, the recognition of students with exceptional abilities, and the experience of working with them, the skills of working with toolkits.
Emphasizing the information mentioned above, the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center conducts phased training courses for psychologists of the RA Territorial Pedagogical Psychological Support Centers and public educational establishments on “Pedagogical-psychological support services for the organization of education of students with exceptional abilities” topic.
The training courses are conducted by Madlena Arakelyan, trainer-specialist of the RPPC Department of Training and Methodological Support.
