Ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Republican Pedagogical – Psychological Center organized a workshop on the “Challenges in the organization of education for Persons with Disabilities” topic on December 2nd.
So, representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations working towards inclusive education in the RA were invited.
Director of RPPC Araqsia Svajyan welcomed all the invited guests. Speaking about the steps and challenges aimed at increasing the effectiveness of inclusive education, she presented spoke about the current system of organizing inclusive education in the Republic of Armenia, the existing problems, and the necessary steps and reforms to overcome them.
Mrs. Svajyan also mentioned the circumstance of having well-established inclusive infrastructures in the RA, which can provide a perspective for us to become a model-country.
Challenges were also highlighted. Moreover, some of them are: capacity building of teachers and specialists, raising awareness of parents, the introduction of a new financing system in educational establishments, development of the Secondary Professional Education System, etc.
Furthermore, the speakers presented their implemented programs in the field, existing positive experiences, results, and conclusions.
They welcomed the idea of working together, and an agreement was reached to organize another meeting to share the successful experience with each other to discuss further steps.
