World Down Syndrome Day is observed annually on March 21st to raise awareness about Down syndrome and advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with the condition.
According to statistics, each year, 1 in every 700 babies is born with Down’s syndrome. It does not depend on the country, climatic and social conditions, as well as the lifestyle of the parents, their health, harmful habits, food, skin color, or nationality. So, the occurrence of the syndrome is a result of genetic chance.
Children with Down syndrome are also called ”Sun Children” because they like to smile. Research shows that all individuals with Down syndrome, who receive appropriate support and opportunities, can fulfill their potential and play an important role in our society.
