Draft Order of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia “On Making Amendments and Supplements to the Order N 1640-N of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia dated November 24, 2010.”
On the e-draft.am, Unified Website for Publication of Legal Acts’ Drafts, the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has submitted for public discussion a draft on making amendments to the regulations regarding the enrollment of school-aged children in general education, the organization of education for children who enter general education later than the prescribed age, and the procedures for transferring and dismissing a student from one educational institution to another.
The amendments are intended to clarify these procedures, as well as define the cases of exceptions to the application of the specified deadlines, in particular:
– starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, students who are enrolled later than the specified deadline will be enrolled in general education in the grade corresponding to their age group if they turn 7 or 8 years old by December 31 of the given calendar year, inclusive. If, as a result of the assessment of special educational needs, children are identified as needing 3rd and 4th level support of pedagogical-psychological services, they may be enrolled one grade lower than their age group, namely, 7-year-olds in the 1st grade, and 8-year-olds in the 2nd grade. In this case, the child’s enrollment in an institution is carried out not through electronic application, but rather based on an application submitted by the parent to the school principal, and in order to enroll in a lower grade, also based on the application for needs assessment.
