Zhanna Andreasyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, presented the component related to cultural and educational rights of the report on the progress and results of the implementation of the RA Government Program for 2025 at the session of the Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs of the National Assembly.
Mrs. Andreasyan considered the discussion of the issue to be key within the framework of the Government’s commitments to protect and ensure various rights, viewing it from the perspective of realizing the right to quality education for all children.
Among other issues, the Minister attached importance to including children with special educational and developmental needs in kindergartens, emphasizing the identification of issues related to inclusion and the implementation of activities in this direction at the preschool level. According to her observation, compared to 2023, the number of children with special educational and developmental needs in kindergartens has increased by 38%, amounting to about 1,800 children.
The Minister also addressed the activities being carried out to identify children who have dropped out of compulsory school education and return them to the education system, emphasizing the importance of coordinated cooperation between various departments, and noting that this direction continues to remain among the Ministry’s priorities.
