A seminar was held at the Republican Pedagogical-Psychology Center on “Social stories as an effective method for the formation of socially acceptable behavior in autistic kids” topic, which was conducted by the specialist of RPPC Content Development Department Suzanna Petrosyan on September 19th, 2023.
Social pedagogues, psychologists, TPPSCs’ and RPPC specialists took part in this seminar.
S. Petrosyan spoke about the importance of social stories, presenting their positive impact on the development of social skills and on promoting efficiency. According to her, social stories help us to control and predict the behavior of autistic kids, and contribute to the formation of socially acceptable behavior by positively modeling situations, formulations, and expressions.
Furthermore, the participants worked in small groups, creating social stories representing a certain situation. Also, they jointly discussed the created stories and made useful conclusions. This was a unique exchange of successful experiences.
