Since September 15, 2024, within the framework of cooperation between the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center and the “Institute of Liberal Politics” NGO, a pilot program on the “Introduction of Bullying Prevention and Response Procedures in Schools” is being implemented, which can serve as the basis for the development and implementation of a national anti-bullying policy in schools.
The Program is being tested in Yerevan Basic School № 131 Named After Peyo Yavorov, Yerevan Secondary School № 87 Named After Hakob and Lutovika Ayntaplyans, and Avedisian School (AMAA). The testing is being carried out through regular work with school directors, psychologists, and teachers, involving employees and experts from the “Institute of Liberal Politics” NGO and the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center.
The Program is being implemented in three main stages.
In the first stage, an assessment of the level of awareness of students, parents, and teaching staff regarding bullying, as well as activities aimed at identifying dangerous environments in schools were conducted.
As a result, student duty was established in the hallways and classrooms with the involvement of upper-grade students. In order to make students’ activities more purposeful during breaks, entertainment-game systems have been introduced in classrooms and hallways.
In the second stage, working groups responsible for bullying prevention and response were formed in all three schools, involving school psychologists, teachers, and students. With the participation of the latter, classroom duties were conducted, and cases of bullying were identified and recorded.
In the third stage, various prevention and response activities were carried out. For this purpose, courses on bullying were organized among teachers, students, and parents.
Currently, with the help of the members of the working groups responsible for prevention and response, special activities are being implemented in classrooms aimed at the full inclusion of students who are in the target group, socially isolated and bullied, as well as correction of the behavior of students who display negative behavior.
We would like to remind you that the pilot program is being carried out based on the “Bullying Prevention and Response Procedures in Schools” guideline developed and published within the framework of the Program, which was approved for use as educational material by the Order N1155-A/2 of the Minister of RA ESCS dated June 27, 2024.
