What is occupational therapy, why is it important, and what are the prerequisites for its effectiveness?
The seminar on “Role and importance of occupational therapy” held at the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center was dedicated to these questions and was intended for RPPC specialists.
The speaker was RPPC occupational therapist Seda Miroyan.
The seminar aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the Center’s specialists by clarifying their understanding of ergotherapy and its relations and boundaries with other specialties.
During the seminar, the history of ergotherapy, and its ideological and philosophical definitions, the role and importance of ergotherapy were discussed, and work functions were clarified as well.
The introduction of the Person-Environment-Occupation model and the practical work around it were particularly addressed, during which the importance of a multifaceted and flexible approach to the work of the Occupational Therapist was emphasized for the correct assessment and goal setting of the people’s needs.
During the seminar, the participants spoke about the issues that arise during their professional activities. Also, they discussed the frameworks of effective cooperation with other related professionals.
