A round table was held at the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center within the framework of the project “Inclusion of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno-Karabakh in the educational process through increasing psychosocial resilience” implemented in cooperation with the RA MoESCS and UNESCO on July 16, 2024.
Ms Stefania Giannini and Mr Ernesto Ottone UNESCO Assistants Director-General for Education, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to UNESCO Aram Hakobyan, Head of the Department for Foreign Relations and Diaspora Arkadi Papoyan, RPPC director Lilit Mnatsakanyan, RPPC deputy director Haykuhi Adamyan and other specialists of the Center, psychologists and teachers working in general educational establishments were present at the meeting.
So, welcoming the participants L. Mnatsakanyan presented the works carried out by RPPC and TPPSCs within the framework of the program in detail, referred to the “Mental Health and Psychosocial Support /MHPSS/ in the field of Education” field guide developed in cooperation with UNICEF and UNESCO, emphasizing systemic providing an approach to the inclusion of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno Karabakh in education, spoke about the assessment of the needs of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno Karabakh, the teachers and specialists working with them, the training courses, monitoring, and the planned work with students from September 2024.
Ms Stefania Giannini thanked the RPPC management for the implemented works and their successful alignment with the vision of UNESCO. He highlighted the importance of cooperation with the RPPC in the context of the educational processes in Armenia, emphasizing the necessity of such programs in implementing continuous education.
Furthermore, Head of the Department for Foreign Relations and Diaspora Arkadi Papoyan in his turn, expressed his confidence that this cooperation will be continuous, emphasizing the effectiveness of the implemented program both at the state and interstate levels.
Psychologists and teachers participating in the project expressed their enthusiasm and observations regarding the activities carried out within the framework of the current project. In particular, they talked with the students about practical work’s positive results and effectiveness. Reference was made to the mechanisms of psychologist-teacher cooperation and the possibilities of their effective operation.
They also came up with constructive suggestions regarding increasing the psychosocial resilience of children in emergencies.
