The seminar held on August 29, 2024 at the Republican Pedagogical-Psychology Center was dedicated to “Change of Perception. Expanding Teachers’ Rights and Opportunities”, which was conducted by RPPC Department of Training and Methodological Support G. Harutyunyan.
The UNICEF Europe and Central Asia Regional Office developed this training manual for teachers on interpersonal communication and involving communities in the context of inclusive education. Its localization in Armenian was carried out due to the cooperation of RPPC and UNICEF experts.
The speaker presented the manual in detail, in particular:
- ✦ the basic concepts of inclusion
- ✦ interpersonal communication
- ✦ schools and ministry
- ✦ the character of the school principal
- ✦ working with people from different cultures
- ✦ characteristics of work with schools and communities, teachers’ self-confidence, attitudes, beliefs, and norms aimed at supporting the inclusion of every child, regardless of their social, religious, cultural, economic, geographical, and ethnic origin and disabilities.
Issues such as helping teachers develop their abilities, skills, and confidence to become culturally aware educators who use inclusive practices, engage with different layers of the population, and act as advocates for inclusion in their educational and social communities were also discussed.
During the seminar, practical work was also carried out. The participants tried to discover their inner “self” using questionnaires and other interactive methods, to achieve self-knowledge.
