A seminar on “Ergotherapy” was organized at the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, attended by occupational therapists of the RPPC and TPPSCs’ and other specialists providing pedagogical-psychological support services as well.
The speaker was Marianna Harutyunyan. She is special in the RPPC Content Development department, ASPU Vice-Rector, PhD, and Associated professor. She presented the essence of ergotherapy, its importance, and its role in modern society, explaining in detail what is the purpose of ergotherapy, its main provisions, and its functions. Also, she talked about the ways of ergotherapy, approaches, interventions, and work structures of this new profession. Viewing occupational therapy as the art and science of organizing and assisting people in their daily activities for health and well-being, the role of creativity and collaboration with families was emphasized to ensure effective and targeted work. Additionally, more detailed reference was made to the features of working with children with autism and the forms and methods of intervention, as well as the positive impact of ergotherapy intervention in improving and developing their communication and motor skills.
During the seminar, the participants spoke about the issues raised during therapy, also they discussed issues related to the specifics of their profession.
