Specialists of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center Anna Nersisyan, Lyudmila Gareginyan, and Alita Mirakyan participated in the “Functional Vision Assessment and Rehabilitation (FVAR)” practical training course organized by the “Perkins School for the Blind” International Organization, the main goal of which was to introduce a modern and clear-cut Functional Vision Assessment system in Armenia, ensuring effective support for children with visual impairments.
Within the framework of the Course, both online discussions and in-person meetings were held for a year. Specialists had the opportunity to study in depth both the traditional and modern approaches to visual impairment, as well as informal and criteria-based approaches, tools and mechanisms for assessment. The meetings were mainly practical in nature: the specialists used standardized tests to assess visual functions.
At the end of the Course, the specialists successfully passed both theoretical and practical examinations and were awarded with certificates.
