Nature conservation begins with education, and education must be accessible to every child.
From 19 to 30 October, 2026, Armenia is hosting the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), bringing together countries, communities, and people from around the world committed to protecting nature.
On October 24, in the Green Zone of the Conference, the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center (RPPC) was represented at the pavilion of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, under the theme “INCLUSIVENESS FOR BIODIVERSITY.”
Our pavilion was bustling with activity. RPPC representatives joined by students from Yerevan Basic School № 24 Named After Suren Spandaryans and the members of RPPC “MIASIN” Theatre Troupe introduced visitors to RPPC activities, educational and methodological materials and manuals developed by RRPC specialists, as well as clay artworks made by participants in RPPC clay therapy sessions. The awareness-raising guidebook and didactic materials on biodiversity, natural phenomena, and seismic protection attracted particular interest. These included the “Rapid Response Bag,” which contained essential items needed in the event of an earthquake or other emergency.
The role of modern technology in ensuring the participation and engagement of all children was also highlighted, including making knowledge about biodiversity accessible to every child.
Visitors to our pavilion wrote their thoughts, wishes, names, and organizational details on colourful Yerevan blue butterflies, the symbol of Armenia at the COP17 conference, and attached them to a globe painted in the colours representing biodiversity objectives. The result was a vibrant, multicoloured image of planet Earth, symbolizing unity, the value of diversity, and the vision of an inclusive world where everyone has a place and significance.
The day was filled with engaging meetings and new opportunities for cooperation, once again underscoring the importance of inclusive education in protecting nature.
