August consultations started in Tavush Region on August 19th. Directors and deputy directors of public schools and pre-school establishments took part as well as RA Deputy Minister of MoESCS Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Governor of Tavush Region Narek Ghushchyan, Head of General Education Department of MoESCS Arsen Baghdasaryan, Head of General Education and Extracurricular Programs Susanna Azatyan, director of National Center for Educational Development and Innovations Artashes Torosyan.
At the beginning of the consultations, the participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the explosion that occurred in Yerevan. Also, Zhanna Andreasyan mentioned the need for disaster and risk education, emphasizing the importance of teaching safety rules.
Zhanna Andreasyan described last year’s results as satisfactory, stressing that there are also many problems that need to be solved. He also referred to the new standard of general education – last year, the standards were tested in the 2nd, 5th, 7th and 10th grades of schools in the Tavush Region.
Next year, the piloting will be continued and will be implemented in all 12 classes. The standards will be updated and will be implemented in all schools of the RA.
Artashes Torosyan presented a number of clarifications related to the introduction of the new standard of general education.
So, during the consultations, they talked about mandatory and voluntary certification.
Head of Public Education Department Arsen Baghdasaryan presented the new regulations of RA Law “On Public Education”, qualification requirements for directors of preschool establishments, and a number of other issues.
Many issues were discussed regarding the technical condition of school buildings, salary increases, certification etc.
