The regional office of UNICEF organized a global webinar on “Transforming inclusive and equitable education – the role of caregivers of children with disabilities living in multidimensional poverty” on August 23.
The aim was to discuss the issues of parents of children with disabilities living in poverty and to identify and involve a wide range of stakeholders who deals and collaborate with those parents.
Experts of inclusive education from Armenia and other countries participated in the webinar.
The panel discussion consisted of two parts:
➤ Identifying poverty in education. the role of parents of children living in poverty.
➤ Strengthening the capacity of those parents to provide support to their children within the framework of inclusive education transformations.
The Director of the Republican Pedagogical – Psychology Center Araqsia Svajyan, also made a report.
The topic of the report was “Challenges and priorities of inclusive education transformation in RA”.
Mrs. Svajyan referred to the difficulties of introducing and implementing inclusive education in Armenia, overcoming obstacles during the implementation of the program, and implementing the planned transformations in the future.
During the webinar, resources for parents and teachers of children with disabilities were presented. The resources were developed by UNICEF Innocenti and piloted by RPPC in schools and kindergartens in different regions of the RA in 2021 within the framework of cooperation with UNICEF Armenia.
Resources were printed and given to all schools and kindergartens of the RA.
