The opening ceremony was attended by ESCS Deputy Minister Araksia Svajyan, Christina Quinn, US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Kristina Quinn, specialists of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychology Center and the RA Territorial Pedagogical-Psychological Support Centers, and other representatives of the education sector as well.
RPPC director Lilit Mnatsakanyan welcomed the attendees and highly appreciated the cooperation with the US Embassy, emphasizing the role of art therapy especially during work with children forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh. Referring to facing different psycho-emotional situations she emphasized the need to enrich specialist’s professional abilities with new knowledge and art-therapeutic techniques.
ESCS Deputy Minister Araqsia Svajyan spoke about the importance of psychological support provided to forcibly displaced children and their families from Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as various programs implemented by the RA Government aiming at involving them more easily and smoothly in the education system.
Emphasizing the provision of appropriate psychological support in post-traumatic situations, she expressed hope that the knowledge imparted and developing abilities within the framework of the starting training course will contribute to the correct organization of the work carried out with those children. Valuing the experience of joint work with the US Embassy and the jointly implemented programs, she thanked the embassy for sharing their experience of targeted interventions in difficult situations.
US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Kristina Quinn welcomed the attendees. She referred to the trauma-oriented art therapy curriculum, emphasizing the effectiveness of art therapy intervention in overcoming post-traumatic complications.
The ambassador reaffirmed the US commitment to support the Republic of Armenia in building a stronger and more established society. Also, she expressed special gratitude to RPPC for its invaluable support in making this project a reality.
