Recently, an online meeting was held involving representatives from the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, “Perkins International” (Perkins School for the Blind) Organisation, and Yerevan Special School № 14 After Nikoghayos Tigranyan for Children with Visual Impairments.
The aim of the Meeting was to discuss the reorganization process of Yerevan Special School № 14 After Nikoghayos Tigranyan for Children with Visual Impairments into a Resource Center, the activities being carried out in this regard, as well as upcoming planned actions and necessary procedures.
During the Meeting, actions aimed at the proper and effective organization of the reorganization process for Resource Center for a Special School for Children with Visual Impairments were presented, in accordance with the action plan and timeline for the reorganization of special general education institutions (special school-resource centers) in the Republic of Armenia, as approved by Order N 2346-A/2 of the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports dated December 12, 2024.
Attention was also given to planned activities aimed at professional capacity building, the exchange of experience, and the effective organization of the future operations of the Resource Center, within the framework of the cooperation between the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, “Perkins International” Organisation, and the Special School for Children with Visual Impairments.
It was noted that, in this context, training courses are planned by the “Perkins International” Organization, aimed at developing skills for assessing visual function and understanding and applying its specific characteristics. Specialists from RPPC, Regional Pedagogical-Psychological Support Centers, and Special Schools are expected to participate in these Courses.
The aim of the Training Courses is to equip professionals with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to more effectively organize the processes of assessing children’s educational and developmental needs, providing support, and delivering appropriate services.
During the Meeting, importance was also attached to clarifying the future cooperation among the involved entities, ensuring the coordinated implementation of activities and adherence to the planned sequence of actions, as well as effectively launching the Resource Center’s operations and ensuring its continuous development.
