In cooperation with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), a three-day training course was held at the Republican Pedagogical- Psychology Center within the framework of FOCUS (Families OverComing Under Stress) program on October 16-18, 2023.
The topics of the course were: “FOCUS Resilience Curriculum for Children and Teens” and “FOCUS for Families Training”.
The speakers were Thomas Babayan and Lauren Marlotte, professors of the University of California, Los Angeles, USA.
Representatives of the RA, MoESCS and MD RA, RPPC and TPPCSs, psychologists and experts of general educational establishments and other educational organizations took part in the training courses.
The aim of the training courses was to provide specialists with new skills to increase children’s emotional resilience in forming and developing the five abilities included in FOCUS. So, the participants got acquainted with the features of emotional regulation, communication, goal setting, problem solving, stress management of school-aged children while working with different age groups.
The training courses were conducted in two complementary phases: theoretical and practical. The participants strengthened their skills through various psychological and practical methods.
It should be noted that the FOCUS project in Armenia is implemented with the support of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) funding and the Armenian Medical Association Of Québec (AMAQ).
