On June 4, 2026, a Thematic Dialogue on “SOCIAL MEDIA AND CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH” was held at the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, which was organised by the Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child (CDENF), in cooperation with the Steering Committee for Human Rights in the fields of Biomedicine and Health (CDBIO), under the auspices of the Presidency of Monaco of the Council of the Europe’s Committee of Ministers.
Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset delivered a welcome speech, followed by reports from Minister of Social Affairs and Health of Monaco Christophe Robino, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre in Mental Health, University of Geneva Sophia Achab, Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychology and Neuroscience, Paris Cité University Grégoire Borst, and a number of other experts. The Thematic Dialogue was attended by over 130 policy makers, leading international experts and stakeholders, with more than 300 participants following online.
Director of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center Lilit Mnatsakanyan also participated in the Thematic Dialogue, delivering a report entitled “Systematic Development of the Field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in the Education System in Armenia as a State Priority.” Mrs. Mnatsakanyan presented the processes aimed at developing mental health and psychosocial support in the education system of the Republic of Armenia, spoke about the systematic measures implemented by the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center in 2023-2025 to ensure mental health and psychosocial support in general education institutions, increase inclusion, safety, well-being and resilience in the education system, and presented the key ideas and pillars that should be considered as the main components of mental health and psychosocial support in schools and be reflected in educational policies, curricula and budget planning.
RPPC Director also touched upon the ongoing activities planned in this direction, the need to implement interventions in a targeted and timely manner, emphasizing their reflection in the RA education system.
