On June 19, 2026, in cooperation with the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the National Center for Addictions Treatment of the RA Ministry of Health, a training course on the “PREVENTION OF DRUG USE AMONG MINORS” was held for specialists of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center and Territorial Pedagogical-Psychological Support Centers.
The Training Course is being implemented within the framework of measures aimed at preventing drug use among minors and providing support in cases of use among teachers, school principals, and children in general education institutions, as stipulated by Decision N 736-L of the Government of the Republic of Armenia dated June 5, 2025.
The Training Course is aimed at identifying the impact of drug use among schoolchildren, factors contributing to their use, cause-and-effect relationships, as well as processes aimed at recognizing the characteristics, main signs and prevention of drug use by teachers and other professionals working with students.
Welcoming the launch of the collaboration, RPPC Director Lilit Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of preventive actions aimed at addressing the spread and use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances among minors and adolescents, and the relevance of the ongoing and planned initiatives in the context of student protection. Mrs. Mnatsakanyan attached importance to interagency cooperation in organizing and implementing awareness-raising activities in educational institutions. RPPC Director also referred to the joint implementation of the work on the development of a guideline planned for September within the framework of the cooperation and the organization and delivery of training courses with a clearly structured module developed based on that guideline.
The Training Course was delivered by Clinical Psychologist at the National Center for Addictions Treatment Anahit Harutyunyan, and Psychologist Inessa Sayadyan. They provided a comprehensive overview of the main types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, their harmful effects, and their impact on the physical and mental health of adolescents. The trainers also addressed the causes of drug use among schoolchildren, the directors for recognizing the warming signs, the consequences, and the mechanisms for their prevention.
The Training Course was accompanied by interactive discussions, during which participants raised questions of interest and their observations.
