AWARE PARENTS BUILD STRONG AND SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITIES
The Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center continues the series of courses aimed at raising the awareness of the parent community.
On June 18, 2026, an online course was held on the “FEATURES OF HOME-SCHOOLING OF CHILDREN WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES: PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR PARENTS” topic, with participation of parents and professionals.
The trainer of the Course was Tereza Azatyan, Specialist at RPPC Content Development Department, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences.
The speaker presented the educational and developmental needs of children with intellectual disabilities, the principles of effective homeschooling, the importance of cooperation between parents and professionals, as well as the criteria for selecting individualized learning methods. Particular importance was attached to the role of mutual trust between parents and professionals, and the importance of the children’s social development and socialization.
The speaker also outlined practical approaches that contribute to the formation of a children’s cognitive engagement, interests, independence, and motivation to learn.
Reference was also made to the conditions necessary for organizing developmental classes, the characteristics of the children’s emotional state and environment, and the importance of clearly defining the objectives of the classes.
Effective methods for developing various skills through sensory exercises, games, and developmental activities, as well as modern communication tools and online applications that contribute to the effective organization of the educational process, were presented.
The Course was accompanied by active discussions and case analyses, during which participants had the opportunity to receive answers to their questions.
