Webinar on “CEREBRAL VISUAL IMPAIRMENT IN CHILDREN” Topic
November 3, 2026 by Admin

On October 30, 2026, a webinar entitled “CEREBRAL VISUAL IMPAIRMENT IN CHILDREN” was held with cooperation of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center and the Perkins School for the Blind organization.

The speaker of the Webinar was an expert from the “Perkins International” organization Snježana Seitz.

The speaker introduced the definition of cerebral visual impairment and its primary causes, as well as the specific characteristics of visual perception and behaviour in children.

The Webinar addressed the following areas:

  • ✦ difficulties in processing visual information;
  • ✦ the recognition of objects and images;
  • ✦ spatial orientation;
  • ✦ visual attention;
  • ✦ the coordination of movements;
  • ✦ challenges arising in social interaction.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of early identification of issues and multidisciplinary assessment. Approaches were examined for observing a child’s visual behaviour in various environments, cooperating with parents and specialists, identifying individual needs and strengths, as well as developing appropriate support and effective intervention strategies based on assessment results.

The speaker also shared practical examples from her professional experience, highlighting the importance of environmental adaptations, presenting visual information gradually, allowing children sufficient time, and developing visual skills through everyday activities. Emphasis was placed on the ongoing cooperation between the family and specialists, with the aim of expanding children’s opportunities to learn, communicate, act independently, and participate in social life.

We would like to remind you that the series of webinars is aimed at the exchange of best practices between specialists from different countries.
