On September 29, 2026, a webinar titled “CAPITAL I IN THE CURRICULUM” was held within the framework of the cooperation of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center and Perkins School for the Blind organization.
The speaker of the Webinar was Martina Celizić, an expert from the “Perkins International” organization.
The speaker presented the definition of the Individual Education Plan, its key components, and various approaches to its development. She attached importance to the continuous, dynamic, and sequential development of the plan based on an assessment of each child’s abilities, interests, and needs.
Particular attention was paid to selecting skills of primary and practical importance to the child, which should align with their real-life needs, preferences, cultural and family background, as well as opportunities for participation in their daily environment.
Participants were introduced to various approaches for developing Individual Education Plans: developmental, functional, environmental, and activity-based. The specific features, potential advantages, and limitations of each approach were examined, as well as the possibilities for applying these theoretical principles in practice.
During the Webinar, the organization of learning in natural and everyday environments was also addressed. Strategies for fostering a child’s independence and active engagement through necessary adaptations were presented.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of applying acquired skills in various situations and generalizing them, as well as on effective cooperation between the family and various specialists to set priorities aligned with the child’s needs and to organize the learning process effectively while taking into account the family’s experience, the child’s characteristics, and the observations of the professionals involved.
This series of webinars is aimed at facilitating the exchange of best practices among specialists from different countries.
