“Total design: a new stage of development” conference held in Dilijan on December 9-10 was dedicated to the issues of ensuring an inclusive environment in Armenia. Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center also participated as an interested party.
The conference was organized by the initiative of Suren Maghakyan, adviser to Prime Minister, and with the cooperation of the United Nations Population Fund.
The aim of the event was to discuss the possibilities of introducing institutional mechanisms to ensure an accessible and inclusive environment in Armenia with the participation of representatives of interested organizations.
So, the conference was attended by representatives of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, RA Urban Development Committee, RA Human Rights Defender’s Office, Yerevan Municipality, field officials of regional governorates, as well as officials of educational non-governmental organizations, universities’ Faculties of Architecture and Design professors, students, persons with disabilities etc.
RPPC director Lilit Mnatsakanyan spoke on the topic “What are the successes and challenges on the way to total inclusive preschool and school education?”
She presented the achievements in the process of introducing total inclusive education, spoke about the work carried out by the Center in this fuild. Also, she referred to the emerging challenges, presented recommendations and find effective solutions to the problems.
The speakers referred to other reforms and programs implemented, to the work done and planned in various fields in the direction of providing an accessible and inclusive environment.
The conference is implemented with the funding of the United Nations Partnership for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Multipartner Target Fund (UNPRPD MPTF) within the framework of the “Creating a favorable environment and ecosystem for the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Armenia and the introduction of programs for the inclusion of persons with disabilities” program.
