A three-day training course on “Prevention and response to violence against children” for trainers was held at the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center on June 7-9.
The training course was organized with the cooperation of the Republican Pedagogical – Psychological Center, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the “World Vision Armenia”, and the Child’s Development Fund within the framework of the “Available Community Social Services” (CLASS) educational program.
So, it was aimed at contributing to developing the abilities of specialists working in the field, increasing the efficiency of the work carried out against violence toward children, the child protection system, and the detection and solution of existing problems.
RPPC director Lilit Mnatsakanyan and head of the “Available Community Social Services” (CLASS) educational program Aida Muradyan welcomed the participants. L. Mnatsakanyan emphasized the formation of a complete system of child protection, wishing for effective work and continuous cooperation.
The training course included 5 modules for the construction of a complete protection system. They were aimed at increasing the awareness of specialists in recognition of violence against children, the RA legislative regulations, the creation of a safe and protected developmental environment, as well as the specifics of responding to individual cases of violence and providing appropriate psychological services.
Participants improved their professional skills by gaining new information about:
- ✦ child protection approaches,
- ✦ legal regulations and service providers related to child protection operating in the RA,
- ✦ identifying violence according to physical and behavioral signs,
- ✦ on the ability to apply the principles of child protection when responding to problems connected with violence.
