The Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center held a training course on “PROVISION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT IN SCHOOL” on May 6-8, 2024, which was attended by 25 psychologists from mainstream schools of 4 regions of the RA – Ararat, Gegharkunik, Syunik, Tavush.
The training course was organized in cooperation with the RA MoESCS, USAID, UNICEF Armenia, and the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center “Strengthening the educational system through the expansion of the works of the implementation of psychological support services in educational establishments and the reorganization of the Special school-resource center for children with hearing impairments” within the framework of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support /MHPSS/ implementation of services in schools” component of the program, which plans to train 50 psychologists of RA public educational establishments.
The training module was developed by the specialist of RPPC Department of Content Development Alina Manukyan. The trainers were training specialists of the RPPC Department of Training and Methodological Support R. Muradyan and O. Grigoryan.
The training course aims to expand the knowledge of psychologists regarding the scope of their functions, directions of work, and professional ethical norms in educational establishments, to develop the professional abilities of school psychologists, to form practical and effective strategies for working with students, parents, and teachers, aimed at improving psychological support at school.
The participants of the training course increased their professional skills, by studying the following topics:
- ✦ the main functions of the school psychologist,
- ✦ also, the main forms and ethical aspects of psychological work,
- ✦ factors hindering the effectiveness of communication with students, parents, and educators and the consequences of their influence,
- ✦ features of psychological work carried out with children of different age groups, educators, parents,
- ✦ the characteristics of the psychological work carried out in the presence of various issues.
The training course was accompanied by practical tasks and active group discussions.
