Sheeba Harma, UNICEF Regional Gender Adviser visit to the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center on June 18, 2024. The visit aimed to prepare cooperation program document between UNICEF and Armenia for 2026-2030.
UNICEF 2022-2025 strategic plan and according to the 2022-2025 gender action plan, gender equality is considered an organizational priority and an intersecting fundamental value that is central to all aspects of the project’s work.
RPPC director Lilit Mnatsakanyan, heads of departments and RPPC specialists, as well as mentors of the program “Ensuring the development of teaching skills of teachers and teacher assistants” were present at the meeting. RPPC director comprehensively presented the activities and processes carried out by the Center in the direction of gender equality, noted that in training courses implemented by our mentors within the framework of the program gender-sensitive pedagogy also is a great component.
Furthermore, the participants of the meeting referred to the work indirectly carried out by the RPPC during the training courses on gender equality, it was noted that in terms of content processing (choice of pictures and colors, development of manuals, etc.) there is consistency on the part of the RPPC in the direction of maintaining the gender ratio. Issues related to ensuring gender equality, including gender-responsive pedagogy, and a number of cultural and ethno-psychological issues were discussed, various aspects of developing their solutions were considered as well. RPPC trainers and mentors addressed the main gaps that are noticeable in the work with teachers, they also presented the features of the regions of Armenia in the direction of gender equality, both in the field of professional orientation and education.
