With the cooperation of the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, the Ministry of ESCS of the Republic of Armenia, and UNESCO, within the framework of the program “Inclusion of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno-Karabakh in the educational process by increasing their psychosocial resilience” in May-June of this year, trained school psychologists conducted about 220 training courses on the topic “Increasing the psychosocial resilience of children” for teachers of general educational establishments.
The courses were held in all regions of the Republic of Armenia and Yerevan, and about 2,200 teachers participated.
The conducted courses aimed to contribute to the increase of psychosocial resilience of children studying in general educational establishments by enriching the knowledge of psychologists and teachers in the field of mental health and psychosocial support, improving and modernizing their professional skills.
The training courses were held face-to-face on the following sub-topics:
- ✦ Mental health and psychological support in schools
- ✦ Self-determination
- ✦ Social-emotional development
- ✦ Managing emotions and feelings
- ✦ Relationships and communication
- ✦ School as a socio-emotional environment
- ✦ Group and individual intervention techniques for students with traumatic experiences.
During the courses, trainers used interactive methods: scenarios, role-plays, brainstorming, discussions, and analysis to maximize practice opportunities. Participants get new information, apply what they learned, test new approaches, respond to colleagues and trainers in a safe environment, and receive feedback from them.
So, the training courses will continue in August, as a result, the trained teachers will start implementing the work aimed at increasing the psychosocial endurance of about 37,000 students with the curriculum from September of the 2024-2025 academic year.
