Within the framework of cooperation with the RA MoESCS, the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, and the National Commission of Armenia for UNESCO, within the framework of the project “Inclusion of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno-Karabakh in the educational process by increasing their psychosocial resilience” started the training courses on “CHILDREN’S PSYCHOSOCIAL INCREASE OF ENDURANCE” topic on May 14-15, 2024.
The training courses aimed to contribute to children’s preparedness for emergencies and to strengthen their psychosocial resilience. School psychologists of Erebuni and Nork-Marash administrative districts participated in the current training courses.
So, the training course was organized based on a module developed based on the results of the needs assessment of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno Karabakh, teachers and specialists who work with them, which can be a useful resource for school teachers and psychologists to help students acquire strategies and skills to manage their own emotions, behavior, and experience. Also, to support the increase of endurance and the acquisition of interpersonal skills, to develop positive emotional and mental well-being.
The participants of the training courses increased their professional skills by becoming aware of the following topics:
- ✦ Children’s Endurance Program. psychological support in schools
- ✦ Self-determination
- ✦ Social-emotional development
- ✦ Emotions and feelings control
- ✦ Relationships and communication
- ✦ School as a socio-emotional environment
- ✦ Group and individual intervention techniques with students with traumatic experiences.
Furthermore, the trained psychologists will organize the same modular course in their schools, as a result of which trained teachers will begin working with students in the new school year on a modular curriculum, taking into consideration, that mental health is an integral component of a child’s overall health and psychosocial well-being and directly affects their academic, social and economic well-being.
