“Strengthening the educational system through the implementation of psychological support services in educational institutions and the expansion of the reorganization of the special school-resource center for children with hearing impairments” program

Since December 1, 2023, “Strengthening the Educational System Through the Implementation of Psychological Support Services in Educational Institutions and the Expansion of the Reorganization of the Special School-Resource Center for Children with Hearing Impairments” program has been implemented in cooperation with the RA MoESCS, UNICEF Armenia, and the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center.

The following activities will be carried out within the framework of the Program:

  • ✦ “Introduction of Special Pedagogical Services for Children with the Need of 3rd and 4th Degree Support in Schools” pilot program.
  • ✦ The component “Introduction of Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS) Services in Schools”, through which 50 psychologists from RA general educational institutions were trained (TOT).
    The aim is to expand psychologists’ knowledge regarding the scope of their functions, areas of work, and professional ethical norms in educational institutions, develop the professional capabilities of school psychologists, and develop practical and effective strategies for working with students, parents, and teachers aimed at improving psychological support at school.
  • ✦ Implementation of training courses on the “Interpersonal Communication and Community Engagement to Support Inclusive Education” topic in all RA marzes for specialists of Territorial Pedagogical-Psychological Support Centers.
    The aim of the training course was to contribute to strengthening the professional capabilities of specialists at the Territorial Pedagogical-Psychological Support Center, developing skills to promote and support the inclusion of every child, regardless of their social, religious, cultural, economic, geographical, ethnic background, and disability.
  • ✦ Implementation of the component “Inclusion of Children with Hearing Impairments in General Schools”, within the framework of which a needs assessment of 15 children with hearing impairments was carried out, and their parents were provided with ongoing support and consultation by TPPSC specialists.
