“Inclusion of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno-Karabakh in the educational process by increasing their psychosocial resilience” program

Mental health is the integral component of children’s overall health and psychosocial well-being and directly influences their academic, social, and economic achievements throughout their lives.

The school years are a crucial period for developing fundamental capacities to ensure psychosocial well-being. How children respond to stressful situations, how they overcome challenges, and how resilient they are depends on various factors. However, the most important thing is the high level of children’s preparedness for independent life and psychosocial well-being. Of course, children themselves can play a decisive role in their protection if they have sufficient awareness and knowledge about well-being

and protection, but it is important to remember that children are especially vulnerable in stressful situations.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, UNESCO and UNICEF, the “Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced Children from Nagorno-Karabakh in the Educational Process by Increasing Their Psychosocial Resilience” program has been implemented since December 1, 2023, within the framework of which the following activities are planned to be carried out:

  • ✦ Development of a tool for assessing the psychosocial resilience of students aged 6-18;
  • ✦ Assessment of the psychosocial resilience of forcibly displaced children from Nagorno-Karabakh aged 6-18 in 632 schools in all regions of the Republic of Armenia;
